A Word from the Golf Course Superintendent

I want to thank everyone for another great season.  It is nice to see us continue to move the golf course into the right direction.  The greens were in fairly good condition again this year but it was promising to see our hard work to the fairways paying off.  Another step in moving in the right direction also involves what we do with the golf course for the winter.  We will once again be putting down the 6 green covers we have on 6 of the greens(we are still deciding which greens to cover) and heavy top dressing on the other 12 greens.  We will be cutting temporary cups out in each fairway to encourage people to stay off of the greens.  As dry and dormant as the grass gets during the winter it's important to keep the traffic off the greens when the conditions are bad so the greens well be in much better shape when the conditions are good.  The course will be playable during the winter with exception of the greens.  Thank you all for following the rules and supporting the golf course.

Danny Renz
DCC Superintendent

Updates
Our plan is to try to have a monthly Newsletter up on the Community Club web site www.douglasgolfclub.com from April through September. Besides announcing activities at the club, we will welcome new members gather news and information from our membership, and use the web site to keep the membership informed.  During the fall and winter months will accept information and articles pertinent to activities ongoing at the club, and we will do our best to include new material on the web when it is submitted.  Deadline for all submissions is the 15th of the month preceding the event or inclusion.  Please email your submissions to Candace Miles: rcmiles15@gmail.com.

Annual Meeting News

Decisions made during the annual meeting:  A vote was taken and it was decided that the Vice Chairman will oversee the assessment of the general membership . The board  will provide information to help cart owners who own space in the cart barns to coordinate a “cart owner’s association”,  an association suggested to oversee the administration and maintenance of the cart barns.

After the annual meeting, the board of directors met to decide on officers  and pass out duties and titles.  At first we could not give the position of chairman, vice chairman and secretary away, however, before we  closed the meeting, Todd Van Rensselaer agreed to chair, John Carey agreed to be the Vice chair, Dylan Grant agreed to be the secretary and Donna Ricks volunteered to continue as treasurer.  I volunteered to continue as marketing director, Scott Cobb will work with the Pro and assist Curtis with any projects, John and Dylan will be the greens committee and Donna and Tom Bollinger will continue as the house committee.
